Welcome to the Greater Kansas City Chapter of IPMA-HR. I would like to thank those who have entrusted me with the opportunity to serve as your Chapter President for the 2009-2010 year. I look forward to the benefits and challenges my new role will bring.
During this year, many of us will be faced with challenges, whether personal or professional. Times of economic hardships hit public sector organizations hard and hit long-lasting. Many of us have been involved with the creation of early retirement incentives, incorporating furloughs, reductions in force, and diminutions of benefits. It is an arduous time to be in Human Resources. Dealing with these types of projects can be difficult and draining.
More than ever, we need to network and interact with each other. IPMA-HR is a strong and important aspect of our professional lives. This chapter and organization provides opportunities, solutions and fresh perspectives. Knowing that I have comrades who understand public sector Human Resources is rejuvenating. How wonderful to have such a broad, talented pool of knowledge and expertise in which we all can benefit!
Whether you can attend just a few of the offered programs or whether you are a regular attendee, participation in your local IPMA-HR chapter continues to be a wonderful way to grow your professional knowledge, expand your resources and build lasting friendships. Benefits from an active membership are endless. Together we can implement growth and positive change within our metro area. Together we can support each other through tough times and celebrate the good times.
On behalf of the Board, I welcome you to continue your involvement in this organization. Come and grow with us. Come and learn with us. Come and have fun with us. Come for the benefits this organization brings to your professional life. Come and get involved…make a difference…positively impact those around you. You are welcomed to do so.
